TRAUMA INFORMED CARE

The Berhe Group's approach to accomplishing our mission involves consulting experts from various fields, including medicine, psychology, education, social work, mental health, and child care. Our interdisciplinary team works collaboratively to provide the best care for our residents. The Berhe Group operates five community-based residential facilities, each with a capacity of six beds, licensed by the State Department of Social Services, Community Care Licensing Division. Our program is designed to emulate a traditional family home setting, built on the belief that the family is a fundamental institution in society and a primary source of learning. We adhere to traditional family values and systems, recognizing the essential role of families in teaching both children and Non-Minor Dependents the values that shape our society. We employ creative and innovative methods to instill fundamental and traditional values, including: (a) Social responsibility: Encouraging a sense of duty towards the community. (b) Self-reliance and responsibility: Fostering independence and personal accountability. (c) Appropriate social interactions and behaviors: Teaching socially approved ways of engaging with others. (d) Respect for others and their property: Cultivating an understanding of boundaries and empathy. (e) Becoming a productive community member: Empowering individuals to contribute positively to society. (f) Understanding social rules, morals, and laws: Educating residents about the expectations and regulations of their community and society at large. (g) Recognizing social and moral consequences: Building awareness of the impact of one's actions on oneself and others. (h) Care and concern for self and others: Nurturing a sense of compassion and helpfulness towards others.

By embracing these values, The Berhe Group strives to create a supportive environment that prepares our residents to lead fulfilling lives as they transition to less restrictive environments or return to their families.
